Biography
Marshall Gudwin lives in British Columbia’s remote West Chilcotin, a region whose character is defined by vast distances, capricious weather, and a profound, enveloping silence. He is drawn equally to solitude and wilderness—twin forces that serve both as a refuge from the world’s noise and as the bedrock of his fiction.
When not at his desk, Gudwin is a distance runner and ski mountaineer, logging punishing hours across terrain that brooks no mistake. The same rigor that governs his physical life—measured pacing, deep patience, attentiveness to the land—infuses his storytelling. He builds his narratives slowly, deliberately, with a mountaineer’s respect for the long, uncertain path ahead.
Canyon Marathon is his debut novel.
